Pengujian Hipotesis Signalling dan Free Cash Flow pada Keputusan Share Repurchase

Pada beberapa tahun terakhir, aktivitas share repurchase oleh perusahaan-perusahaan yang terdaftar di bursa mengalami peningkatan yang cukup drastis. Terdapat berbagai faktor yang menyebabkan sebuah perusahaan melakukan share repurchase. Penelitian ini meneliti perusahaan-perusahaan yang terdaftar pada bursa efek utama di Amerika Serikat sebagai pasar modal terbesar di dunia. Penelitian ini akan fokus pada faktor-faktor yang menjelaskan keputusan perusahaan untuk melakukan share repurchase dengan bertumpu pada dua hipotesis utama, yaitu signalling dan free cash flow hypothesis. Lebih tepatnya, penelitian ini fokus pada dua variabel utama, yaitu information asymmetry dan excess cash. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga meneliti mengenai bagaimana dampak yang disebabkan oleh krisis finansial terhadap keputusan share repurchase perusahaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan model regresi logistik. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa excess cash dan information asymmetry berpengaruh positif secara signifikan terhadap keputusan share repurchase perusahaan.
